There is a continuing debate among website marketing professionals as to the necessity of website meta tags. Many within the industry feel they (meta tags) have gone the way of the dinosaur.
Have they?
In recent months and yes even the past year, the search engine marketing value of the meta tag has been on the decline. However, it is still proper website design
etiquette to include them. There may be even more reasons to do so.
I feel there is market share to be gained when meta tags again become an intricate staple of the search engine communities algorithms. Many people are simply ignoring these valuable and necessary
web bits, this spells opportunity for you. When search engines come full circle, many a website will be left out in the cold and their website marketing team will be scrambling to get the meta
tagss back! In the mean time those who have not forsaken the meta tag will enjoy and reap the benefit of maintaining proper design
etiquette.
Just when the value of meta tags will begin to rise is anyone's guess, but being prepared for success should be your motto.
